Crowdy-Kit

C_Kcompedpic3

Crowdy-Kit brings together Hannah Cumming, Jon Dyer and Matt Norman in an energetic and inventive band rooted in the English folk tradition. Hannah’s driving fiddle and Matt’s rhythmic piano provide the foundations, while Jon’s flute adds the sparkle that brings it all together. Drawing on influences from jazz, blues and Québécois music, they create a rich and varied sound that’s equally at home on the ceilidh dance floor or the concert stage.

Originally formed as a ceilidh band, Crowdy-Kit have since developed a full concert set, combining their energetic dance tunes with songs and more intricate instrumental arrangements. The set has now been recorded and will be released as their debut album in spring 2027.

Matt Norman and Luke Shaw are a guitar and mandolin duo playing a mix of traditional tunes, new compositions and songs. Bringing together Matt’s lyrical mandolin playing and Luke’s inventive guitar accompaniment, they enjoy finding new ways into old tunes and creating intricate and inventive arrangements.

Their repertoire moves between lively instrumentals, more delicate tunes and songs, drawing on the richness of the folk tradition while adding a few twists of their own. They recently supported Leveret at Greenbank Folk Club.
